11 Things to Know About My New Office!

11 Things to Know About My New Office!
By Liz Martin

Starting February 1st I will be working out of a new location – The Woodman Building at 2201 Kipling St. in Lakewood – I’m in Suite 200, the double doors at the top of the stairs! Here are some things to know about my new space!

1. My networking group is taking over the building

  • I chose this space, or this space chose me, because I am part of a networking group with some fantastic wellness practitioners who work with prenatal and postpartum clients. Five of them (six including me) work out of this building! A suite opened up just down the hall from these lovely folks and I decided to go for it.
  • Below is info on these amazing practitioners – you can see why I want to work so close to them!
    • Ashley DeBoer of Rise Chiropractic, specializes in prenatal, postpartum and pediatric clients. She also runs BirthFit West Denver and can teach you about baby-wearing. You can find her in Suite 202.
    • Leslie Rodriguez of Empowered Fit+Wellness is a Certified Prenatal & Postnatal Corrective Exercise Specialist. She offers a variety of fitness classes, body & movement assessments, monthly support groups and educational workshops. She shares Dr. Ashley DeBoer’s studio space in Suite 202.
    • Krystyna Holland is a pelvic floor physical therapist specializing in prenatal and postpartum patients – she will be seeing clients inside Dr. Ashley DeBoer’s office in Suite 202!
    • Emily Kamala of Conscious Living is a craniosacral therapist, who works with infants, children, adults, and prenatal clients. You can find Emily in Suite 201 (right next to me!)
    • Maya Suzuki of Bumblebee Acupuncture (soon to be renamed Bumblebee AcuTherapy) specializes in traditional Japanese pediatric, maternity, and fertility AcuTherapy. You can find her in Suite 205.

2. I am now going to be offering pelvic steaming (otherwise known as vaginal or yoni steaming) and castor oil packs.

  • Part of the Arvigo Techniques of Mayan Abdominal Therapy includes pelvic steaming and castor oil packs. I will now be offering both as stand-alone treatments and as add-ons to any session. A corner of my treatment room will be dedicated to pelvic steaming.
  • Pelvic steaming can be helpful for those with irregular or painful menstrual cycles, PCOS, endometriosis, fertility concerns and also as a regular self-care practice to increase blood, nerve and lymph flow in the uterus and pelvic organs.
  • Castor oil packs, when placed on the abdomen or lower back, help to decrease inflammation and scar tissue, and increase circulation and lymph drainage in the abdominal and pelvic area.
  • I’ll be posting more info about these two new treatments soon!

3. I will be selling locally-made pregnancy, birth and postpartum wellness products and art!

  • I am excited to partner with some amazing healers, makers and artists to offer some of the highest-quality products in the Denver area. I’ll be featuring each person and company in a blog article, so you’ll get know how amazing each one is!
  • Do you make products or art that you would like to sell at Mama Jane Massage? If so, let’s chat!

This adorable secretary desk is going to be part of my retail area. It will soon be filled with high-quality locally-made wellness products!

4. Michelle Castor of Agua y Sangre Healing is my favorite local herbalist (and really just one of my favorite people) and she is making some products exclusively for Mama Jane Massage!

  • She is blending herbs for my pelvic steams, Sitz baths, prenatal & postpartum teas, and much more!
  • I will be using her herbs in my treatments as well as selling them in the shop.

5. My handsome and talented hubby Andrew is custom-building some of my office furnishings!

  • This includes my front desk, frames for artwork, and retail shelf. He will also be selling other stuff like earrings and cutting boards in the retail area.

My hubby made this beautiful front desk for me!

6. My office will be filled with uterus and female pelvis artwork!

  • Uteruses are my obsession, so that should be expected. And of course my Frida Kahlo pieces will be here and there.
  • Down the road I am also going to be selling and featuring art by the lovely Amy Haderer – check out her artwork here.
Mama Jane Massage Floral Uterus

This floral uterus is one of three pieces of art by Trisha Thompson Adams that will be in my treatment room!

7. My office has two treatment rooms

  • I am in the process of finding one or more people to share my new space with – that could be massage therapists or other bodyworkers, energy workers, therapists or counselors, or others in need of a calm and quiet workspace.
  • Are you looking for a space to work out of, full- or part-time – let’s chat!

8. I have space for small groups and classes!

  • My front room will have a lounge area that can be used for small groups and classes – which I plan to start offering later this year. Dr. Ashley DeBoer also has a great classroom space just down the hall, perfect for larger groups and classes.
  • Do you have a pregnancy, birth or postpartum class or group you’d like to host? If so, let’s chat!

I’ll have a comfy lounge area to relax before and after your treatment

Here’s some less exciting info, but still good to know!

9. You’ll have to climb some stairs to find me

  • The Woodman Building has three levels and no elevator – definitely a drawback from an otherwise great location. There are stairs leading up to the front door from the parking lot, a small flight of stairs to get to the first level, then a larger flight of stairs to reach the second floor where my office is.
  • Please let me know if you cannot climb stairs – I am happy to make accommodations for those with limited mobility, just let me know before you schedule if accommodations are needed!

10. There is ample free parking in the front and back of the Woodman Building

  • Although there are some lights on the outside of the building, I have noticed it is pretty dark in the parking lot after the sun goes down – if you have a late appointment, and want me to meet you in the parking lot, just let me know!

11. The bathroom is down the hall

  • While it would be lovely to have a bathroom in my suite, it can be found not too far away, just down the hall.

You are always welcome to come by and see my new office! Starting February 1st, I will be there Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, come check it out!
