Pediatric Massage with Cea

Post by Cea McGhee

Did you know? Cea is a Certified Pediatric Massage Therapist (CPMT). They received their certification through LiddleKidz in 2024.

For ages 2 - 17, Pediatric Massage enhances your child's body awareness, supports range of motion, circulation & digestion, and encourages good communication around consent and boundaries surrounding their bodies. Touch is a vital part of the human experience and to the growth of a person at all stages of life, especially during developmental years.

Pediatric Massage is beneficial for: student athletes, children with chronic conditions & disabilities and/or on the Autism spectrum. Younger clients are fully clothed during their session, while teens may undress to their comfort level, particularly student athletes who may be receiving deeper work. The parent/guardian is required to sit in the room during the massage session - they are welcome to quietly work, enjoy snacks and beverages, and ask questions if they have any.

Sessions are typically 30-60 minutes depending on the child’s age, comfort, and need.

If kids don’t want to sit or lay still during their massage, it can be helpful to communicate the need for a break or stimulation. Some kids may enjoy watching or playing on something like a tablet during the session, or may want a moment to reconnect with their parent.

At a parent’s request, some of the session can include teaching at -home techniques to address their child's needs.
